About AMATEUR RADIO STATION K7DLX

Over 55 years of radio broadcasting experience

Hi and welcome! I'm Ric, K7DLX. I'm a native of Pacific Palisades, California, but I've retired to St. George, Utah, in the southwest corner of the state. I chose to live in St. George because it has the perfect climate for me. It's in the north end of the Mojave Desert, so it gets hot in the summer and very rarely snows in the winter. I'm actually much closer to Las Vegas (120 miles) than Salt Lake City (300 miles).

I spent almost 20 years on the radio, working as an announcer at great stations like KDES in Palm Springs, California; KVVQ in Victorville, California; KHTZ in San Bernardino, California; KJUL in Las Vegas, Nevada; KDXU in St. George, Utah; KSLY in San Luis Obispo, California; KKAL in Arroyo Grande, California; and KTSM in El Paso, Texas.

Now, you can join me weekdays from 10am to 2pm Central time for the best country music in the world. I play all your favorite hits and introduce you to new tracks from up-and-coming artists. Whether you're at work, at home, or on the go, tune in and let us be the soundtrack to your day. From the classics to the latest chart-toppers, we've got it all covered. So grab a cup of coffee, kick back, and enjoy the ultimate country music experience only on bosscountryradio.com.

I've been a ham radio operator since 1982. I'm licensed as an Extra class operator and an ARRL Volunteer Examiner. I'm a member of the Dixie Amateur Radio Club in St. George, and I've served as its president for four terms. I'm proud to have served the club in this capacity.

I chose the callsign K7DLX because in the late 1980s I programmed and did the morning show for KDLX-AM radio here in St. George. I built and programmed the station from scratch, and it was the most fun I've had in radio. So when I saw that K7DLX was available, I grabbed it under the FCC's Vanity Callsign program.

Contesting is a great love of mine. I especially enjoy operating QRP. It seems to work, as I have 4 major awards from the ARRL and the North American SSB Sprint organization for my QRP operations. Check out my contesting page here and see my awards here.

I am currently looking to devise a lifestyle that does not require my presence. I am seeking ideas and suggestions from those who have successfully made this transition. 😉😁
